China Coast Guard (CCG) lawfully took control necessary measures against a Japanese fishing vessel and issued warnings to expel it after it illegally entered the territorial waters of China's Diaoyu Islands on Wednesday and Thursday, CCG spokesperson Liu Dejun said on Thursday.

"Diaoyu Dao [islands] and its affiliated islands are China's inherent territory. We urge Japan to immediately cease all illegal activities in these waters," the spokesperson said.

Liu stated that CCG will continue rights protection and law enforcement operations within the territorial waters of the Diaoyu Islands to safeguard national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.
