In response to a query regarding the Philippines' National Security Council's claim that China recently arrested three Philippine citizens suspected of espionage and labeled it a "retaliation," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated on Monday that concerning the involvement of Philippine nationals in espionage activities in China, relevant Chinese authorities have disclosed specific details.

Lin noted that Chinese judicial and relevant authorities handle cases strictly in accordance with the law based on facts and will safeguard the lawful rights and interests of the individuals involved.

The Philippine side has recently fabricated multiple "Chinese spy cases," engaging in presumption of guilt, stigmatization and politicization despite unclear facts, Lin said. China has resolutely and repeatedly lodged stern representations, urging the Philippines to stop making unfounded accusations and to handle these cases fairly and lawfully, ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in the Philippines, he said.
